Job summary

Quantinuum is seeking a Facilities Engineer Intern in Brooklyn Park, MN. Responsibilities include supporting facility infrastructure, HVAC, building automation, and cryogenic production equipment, with emphasis on reliability and lifecycle planning.

Job description

We are seeking a Facilities Engineer Intern in our BrooklynPark, MN, location.

All applicants for placement in safety-sensitive positions will be required to submit to a pre‑emergency drug test.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the engineering support, reliability, and continuous improvement of facility infrastructure, HVAC, building automation, mechanical systems, utilities, and cryogenic production equipment.
  • Evaluate system performance, identify capacity or reliability risks, and develop technical recommendations for repairs, upgrades, replacements, and lifecycle planning.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis for equipment failures, recurring alarms, process interruptions, and other system‑level issues; implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Design and Plan facility and utility projects from concept through commissioning, including scope development, design review, cost estimates, schedules, contractor coordination, acceptance testing, and turnover documentation.
  • Review engineering drawings, equipment submittals, technical specifications, operating procedures, and vendor proposals for safety, quality, operability, maintainability, and compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
YOU MUST HAVE:
  • Enrolled in a Bachelor’s program
  • Graduating on/after 2027
  • Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person. defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status
  • Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.
WE VALUE:
  • A bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline or a closely related technical field.
  • Previous experience leading technical work, coordinating teams, or supervising employees or contractors.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, building automation, and environmental monitoring systems.
  • The ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, engineering drawings, and equipment documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices and computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Effective communication, collaboration, and team leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and tools used for reporting, analysis, and project tracking.

$23 - $27 an hour

Compensation & Benefits:

The pay range for this role is $23- $27 per hour. Actual compensation within this range may vary based on the candidate’s skills, educational background, professional experience, and unique qualifications for the role.
