Job summary

Symbrosia inc is seeking a Facilities Engineer in Kailua Kona, HI to own day-to-day facility performance and drive the scale-up of our algae production and processing facilities. You will maintain mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and utility systems while supporting pilots, trials, and commercial deployment.

You will collaborate with R&D, QA, and Operations to translate evolving requirements into scalable, compliant infrastructure and contribute to safety, documentation, and process

Qualifications

• 3+ years in facilities maintenance or industrial operations.
• Strong troubleshooting and attention to detail.
• Self-motivated with bias toward action in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborative mindset to work with multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience designing and documenting test plans or pilots.
• Experience with safety, compliance, and process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day facility performance across cultivation, processing, R&D, QA, and shared spaces.
• Maintain a safe, compliant, and fully functioning working environment with high equipment uptime.
• Lead sourcing, installation, commissioning, and documentation of equipment for pilots and commercial processes.
• Design, modify, and improve facility layouts and mechanical systems for efficiency and safety.
• Support algae production systems including distribution, filtration, lighting, and monitoring.
• Contribute to stage-gate governance and translate R&D concepts to pilot and commercial setups.
• Collaborate across R&D, Processing, QA, Operations, and Leadership on upgrades and regulatory alignment.
