Job summary

Caesars Entertainment in Elgin, IL seeks a Building Engineer to manage preventive maintenance and safety across a large commercial property. You will inspect building systems, respond to emergencies, and perform general upkeep on HVAC, plumbing, electrical and life-safety equipment.

This is a part-time, on-site role with an hourly pay range of $20–$25, depending on experience. You will work with a team to ensure a safe, well-maintained facility on the casino campus.

Qualifications

  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical trade school certification preferred or 2-3 years facilities work experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain gaming license.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical labor.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and perform preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical and fire life safety systems.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests and assess safety hazards.
  • Perform general upkeep including interior and exterior painting.
  • Operate power and hand tools and comply with procedures.

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Building Engineer to join our team. The Building Engineer will be responsible for the overall maintenance and upkeep of a large commercial building. This position requires a thorough understanding of safety practices, building systems, and general maintenance procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect and perform preventive maintenance on all building systems and equipment, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire life safety.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests and assess the building for potential safety hazards.
  • Maintenance responsibilities such as painting both interior and exterior areas.
  • Working knowledge of power tools and hand tools.
  • Understands and complies with all company and departmental policies and procedures, job description and other instructions.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical trade school certification preferred or 2-3 years facilities work experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain gaming license.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical labor.
  • Requires mobility through entire shift.
  • Requires carrying supplies for repair and installation.
  • Bending and reaching from floor level to approximately six (6) feet high.
  • Requires pushing and/or pulling heavy equipment or supplies on carts/dollies upwards of two hundred (200) pounds.
  • Requires working with cleaning equipment and the ability to tolerate the presence and use of chemicals, cleansers and solvents.
  • Ability to lift, carry and manipulate supplies weighing approximately eighty (80) pounds.
  • Work is performed throughout the entire property.
  • Varying from outdoors to confined engineering spaces and the casino floor, with minimal time spent doing “office” work.
  • Regular contact with staff and other departments, some guest contact.
  • Ability to tolerate harsh weather conditions including extreme cold and extreme heat; sun, wind, rain and snow exposure.
  • Loud and/or consistent noise level, illumination and heights.
  • All conditions associated with normal building maintenance, including, but not limited to, power and hand tools, machinery, and chemicals.

Salary Range: $20-$25 per hour (Depending on Experience)
