Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for managing and executing a wide variety of maintenance and repair tasks supporting multiple facilities.

Job Functions

1. Independently execute tasks related to systems such as basic/finish carpentry, electrical, small equipment operation, plumbing, furniture and equipment movement, lawn care, small motor repair, medical gas and air systems, water softening, and domestic water systems. Also, teach/train others in these areas.
2. Independently handle tasks involving hospital beds, locks, hardware, large motor repair, hydronic pumps, kitchen equipment, building automation systems, fire alarms, boilers, refrigeration, and reverse osmosis water systems.
3. Under supervision, work on irrigation, chillers, cooling towers, HVAC systems, surveillance, nurse call, access control, paging, circuitry, electronics, and telemetry systems.
4. Troubleshoot, identify, follow up on, and correct building deficiencies.
5. Coordinate responsibilities to ensure efficient operations.

Minimum Education/Work Experience

• Ability to understand and interpret construction blueprints.
• Knowledge of healthcare safety codes (NFPA 99 and 101).
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and organize daily activities.
• Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Effective communication skills in English.

License/Certifications

• Boilers license (special) - can obtain within 1 year of employment.
• Valid MN driver’s license and insurability.
• Hazardous Spill Certification - within 1 year, annually renewed.
• Asbestos Awareness Certification - within 1 year, annually renewed.
• OSHA Certification - within 1 year, annually renewed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s degree.
• 5+ years healthcare experience.
• Unlicensed electrician certification.
• First-class Boilers license.
• CPR Certification.
