Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Facilities Engineer II to join our team and support multiple medical office buildings across the northern suburban Chicago area. The full-time role runs 40 hours per week with on-call rotation approx.

every four weeks, helping operate power plant equipment safely and efficiently. Responsibilities include boilers, chillers, water heating systems, energy management, and joint work with contractors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2-3 years relevant building maintenance experience.
• Technical training in maintenance field; HVAC/R trade school certificate or equivalent.
• Licensed as a Stationary Engineer OR ability to obtain within 1 year of hire.
• Valid driver’s license (must provide Driving Abstract)

Responsibilities

• Operates and assists in maintaining and repairing all power plant equipment with minor supervision.
• Operates high pressure boilers and related equipment including chillers, cooling towers, domestic hot water heating system, water heating system, generators, electrical switchgear, energy management system.
• Performs safety checks on plant equipment and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
• Cleans and paints equipment, piping, and accessories in power plant and mechanical rooms.
• Conducts chemical analyses of boiler, chiller, cooling tower and closed loop systems; adds chemicals to maintain balance.
• Responds to plant emergencies and on-call service requests; documents work performed.
