Job description

Description

This is a full-time position at 40 hours per week located at Lake Forest Hospital. The schedule for this position is Tuesday to Saturday, 10:30 pm to 7 am.

The Facilities Engineer II reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and assist in maintaining and repairing all power plant equipment with minimal supervision. Monitor other engineering systems and take emergency actions as necessary.
  • Operate high-pressure boilers and related equipment, including chillers, cooling towers, domestic hot water heating systems, water heating systems, generators, electrical switchgear, and energy management systems.
  • Perform safety checks on plant equipment, conduct repairs, and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Clean and paint equipment, piping, and accessories in the power plant and mechanical rooms.
  • Analyze chemicals in boiler, chiller, cooling tower, and all closed-loop systems.
  • Perform chemical analysis tests and add chemicals to maintain prescribed balances in systems.
  • Change and dispose of chemical drums properly, using safety equipment and understanding chemical balance importance.
  • Respond to plant emergencies and know the location of firefighting equipment.
  • Address service requests, perform troubleshooting, corrections, and document actions.
  • Conduct scheduled maintenance and inspections per organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Operate facility equipment and systems safely and efficiently on routine and as-needed basis.
  • Assist contractors/vendors with repairs, maintenance, and construction as needed.

Additional Functions

  • Coordinate audit schedules to ensure compliance with quality audit procedures.
  • Complete individual staff quality audits for the Revenue Cycle Division.
  • Prepare documentation for reporting, including reports and quality scorecards.
  • Provide input on department policies and procedures.
  • Track and communicate quality audit performance.
  • Ensure compliance with documentation procedures for auditors and managers.
  • Identify staff development needs and collaborate with training teams.
  • Work with Epic application teams for project planning, curriculum development, and execution.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Five years of relevant building maintenance experience, including high-pressure steam boilers
  • Technical training in maintenance
  • Licensed as a Stationary Engineer
  • Experience with boilers, generators, or mechanical maintenance
  • Valid driver’s license (must provide Driving Abstract)
  • Physical Demand Requirement: Lift/carry up to 70 pounds; push/pull force up to 50 pounds.

Preferred:

  • Hospital or military experience
  • One-year training in Boiler Maintenance
