Descripción del empleo

About Us

Western Natural Resources (WNR) is a privately held, Oklahoma City-based oil and gas company focused on acquiring, developing, and operating high-quality upstream energy assets. Founded through a strategic partnership between Centalion and experienced energy leaders, WNR combines deep industry expertise, disciplined execution, and a long-term approach to building a premier energy company.

WNR is a rapidly growing organization with an entrepreneurial culture where collaboration, integrity, safety, and accountability are central to how we operate. As the company expands its asset base and team, employees have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact, work closely with experienced industry leaders, and help build the infrastructure and culture of a growing energy company.

Position Summary

The Facilities Engineer is responsible for designing, optimizing, and supporting WNR's surface production facilities, from wellsites and tank batteries to compression, gathering, and water handling. The role delivers safe, reliable, and cost-effective facilities across newly acquired and existing assets, and works directly with field operations, leadership, and contractors to improve uptime, reduce operating costs, and support disciplined growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and specify surface facilities, including wellsites, separation and treating equipment, tank batteries, compression, vapor recovery, gas lift, and produced water handling, with the practicality and cost discipline expected of a lean operator.
  • Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), equipment sizing, datasheets, and bid packages.
  • Manage facility projects from concept through construction, commissioning, and startup, including budgets, schedules, procurement, and contractor oversight.
  • Evaluate facilities on potential acquisitions, including condition, capacity, compliance exposure, and capital needs, and support integration of newly acquired assets.
  • Work in the field with operators and foremen to troubleshoot equipment failures, production bottlenecks, and process upsets across well pads, compressor stations, and gas processing facilities.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to reduce downtime and lease operating expenses, improve gas capture and run time, and optimize existing facilities.
  • Select and negotiate with vendors and contractors, and evaluate rent versus buy decisions for major equipment.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards (API, ASME, NFPA) and regulations (OSHA, EPA, PHMSA, and state agency requirements).
  • Partner closely with the Health, Safety and Environmental team on management of change, hazard reviews, incident investigations, emissions reduction, and flare and venting minimization.
  • Help develop and maintain WNR's engineering standards, design basis, and facility documentation as the company grows.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Petroleum, or Civil Engineering, or a related technical field (required).
  • Minimum 5 years of upstream facilities, process, or production engineering experience, ideally with an independent or small operator.
  • Strong working knowledge of oil, gas, and water separation and handling, compression, and gathering systems.
  • Working knowledge of API, ASME, NFPA, OSHA, and EPA requirements relevant to oil and gas production facilities.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar drafting software and Excel-based engineering calculations.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and make sound decisions with incomplete information.
  • Ability to travel to field sites in East Texas and Western Louisiana, up to 50% when needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with process simulation and modeling tools such as ProMax, HYSYS, or Pipesim.
  • Experience with SCADA, instrumentation, and automation systems.
  • Experience in East Texas and Western Louisiana operations.
  • Prior exposure to asset acquisitions, new-build developments, or facility consolidation.
What We Offer
  • Competitive base salary + performance-based incentives
  • Direct influence over company facilities strategy, standards, and growth
  • Broad scope and early responsibility on acquisitions and new developments
  • Flat, collaborative team structure with fast decision-making
Physical Requirements

Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, including sitting, standing, walking, communicating, and using standard office or job-related equipment. May require lifting, travel, working outdoors, or use of personal protective equipment.
