Job summary

Flex is seeking a Facilities Engineer based in Libertyville, IL, reporting to the Facilities Manager. The role applies engineering principles to design, modify or develop facilities, testing, machines, equipment, or processes used in manufacturing.

Responsibilities include researching facility product specifications, defining feasibility, establishing performance standards, and guiding projects with strong emphasis on communication and FRACAS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering is preferred or equivalent experience and training.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Subject Matter Expertise in clean rooms, walk-in coolers & freezers, RO/DI water systems, waste neutralization, gas distribution, vacuum systems, process chillers and non-clean utilities.
• Manufacturing plant construction in a cGMP environment; preferably medical devices or pharma.
• FRACAS (fault/root cause analysis) capability and experience in utilities (steam, cooling, water, compressed air).

Responsibilities

• Research facility products or equipment specifications and performance requirements to define designs for existing manufacturing facilities.
• Research engineering proposals and related data for industrial facilities machinery and equipment design.
• Define feasibility of new plant facilities equipment or modifications considering costs, space, time, and planning factors.
• Provide technical facilities information on manufacturing techniques, materials, properties and process advantages and limitations.
• Compile research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified equipment.
• Stay updated with engineering publications to track industry changes.
• Use CAD/CAE software to perform engineering tasks and support project teams.
• Guide projects and project teams.

The Facilities Engineer will be based in Libertyville, IL, reporting to the Facilities Manager.

Applies engineering values to design, modify or develop facilities, testing, machines, equipment, or processes used in processing or manufacturing products.

Responsibilities:

• Research facility products or equipment specifications and performance requirements to define designs which can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods.
• Research engineering proposals, process requirements and related technical data pertaining to industrial facilities machinery and equipment design.
• Defines feasibility of designing new plant facilities equipment or modifying existing facilities considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning and other technical and economic factors.
• Provides technical facilities information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties and process advantages and limitations which affect long range plant and product engineering planning.
• Compiles and research facilities research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified equipment.
• Studies engineering and technical publications to keep abreast of technical changes and developments in industry.
• Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
• Guides projects and project teams.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred – or - equivalent experience and training (see below).
• Typically requires a minimum of 6+ years of facilities engineering industry experience from large manufacturing companies, ideally from any of the following industries: Medical Devices, Food & Beverage, Pharmaceutical, Automotive and/or Defense/Aerospace.
• Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and organizational skills required.
• Subject Matter Expertise in one or more of the following areas: clean rooms, Walk-in Coolers & Freezers, RO/DI Water systems, Waste Neutralization, Compressed gas distribution systems, vacuum systems, Process chillers and non-clean utilities.
• Manufacturing plant construction in a cGMP industry; preferably in Medical Devices or Pharma.
• Facilities Engineering construction activity at MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Process) discipline.
• Fault/Root Cause Analysis and Review (FRACAS).
• Utilities (steam, cooling media, heating media, water systems, compressed air).
• Must have excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and organizational skills.
