They ensure that everything in the hotel from the guest rooms (a.k.a. chambers), meeting rooms, restaurants, offices, is in good working order for our guests, clients, vendors and teammates.

Under the general supervision of the Director of Engineering, you will assist in the maintenance, repair, refurbishment, renovation, remodeling, and general upkeep to keep the facility functional and attractive to prospective customers.

We expect you to communicate, coordinate, and work well with other teammates, managers, and guests. Most of all, we want you to have FUN since you will play a huge role in creating that memorable guest experience!

What exactly you will be doing…

In helping you understand your role in working for a progressive, environmentally conscious, world-class organization, here are your essential job responsibilities. Please note that this list is not exhaustive, and you may be asked to perform other tasks by your supervisors/managers to provide an exceptional customer service experience for our guests:

• Complete assigned work orders for general repair within the designated time frame to ensure operational efficiency, safety, and proper functioning of hotel equipment
• Perform systematic checks and inspections to aid in hotel upkeep and assist in proactive maintenance to prevent malfunctions and depreciation
• Respond promptly and courteously to guest needs to repair and resolve room maintenance requests and issues
• Maintain tools, workspaces, and equipment in safe and good condition to reduce accidents and prolong their usability
• Repair and/or change room locks to ensure hotel and guest security
• Adjust and repair electronic hotel equipment such as televisions, alarm clocks, HVAC units, etc.
• Assist in maintaining safety equipment and emergency procedures for the safety of all guests and staff
• Utilize computer systems like ALICE or HOTSOS to complete work orders and track maintenance activities
• Maintain a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested by management

What qualities are we looking for?

If you have the skills, you're in the right place…

• Basic working knowledge in plumbing, refrigeration, air conditioning, electrical systems, boilers, bathroom fixtures and tiling, painting, basic carpentry, groundskeeping, etc.
• Ability to read written communication, LED read-outs, meters, and computer screens
• Dexterity to handle tools, work with arms raised, and assemble small parts using hand and power tools
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions, communicate effectively, and stay organized
• Effective and courteous communication with employees, guests, and contractors via various channels
• Upper body strength to lift up to 75 lbs., and ability to crawl into small spaces, climb ladders, and carry loads of 75 lbs.

Background must-have:

• Legal, current, and unrestricted right to work in the United States
• Associate degree, technical degree, or trade certification
• Previous experience in hotel engineering or maintenance
• Ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations
• Clear and pleasant communication skills in English, both in person and via email or phone
