Job summary

OCTA in Santa Ana seeks an Electrician to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems across agency facilities, including high-voltage work (277–480 VAC and up to 1000 VDC).

You will read schematics, supervise technicians, and ensure compliance with NFPA 70/70E, Cal/OSHA, and safety practices while supporting generators, UPS, and facility upgrades.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Completion of an accredited electrical training program.
• Three years of electrical experience, including NEC-aligned installation and repair.
• Familiarity with NFPA 70, NEC, NFPA 70E, arc flash safety, HAZMAT, and Cal/OSHA electrical safety.
• Ability to diagnose industrial electrical issues, read technical docs, and work safely with high-voltage systems.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and time-management skills.
• Ability to climb ladders, work at heights above 30 feet, operate lifts, and work in confined spaces.
• Experience with battery-electric vehicle chargers is a plus.
• Valid California Driver License with a safe record.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, test, and repair electrical devices and distribution systems across facilities.
• Inspect and repair backup generators, UPS systems, and auxiliary equipment.
• Read and interpret drawings, schematics, ladder diagrams, and blueprints.
• Guide and train Facilities Technicians.
• Perform maintenance on burner assemblies and related equipment.
• Safely use ladders, aerial lifts, staging, light towers, and PPE.
• Oversee contractor work for quality and compliance.
• Maintain logs, permits, certifications, and regulatory documentation.
• Support facility upgrades and special projects such as welding or painting.
• Evaluate and repair facility safety and testing systems.
