Job summary

NY CREATES is seeking a Facility Electrical Technician in Albany, NY to operate, maintain and troubleshoot essential electrical systems across campus facilities.

The role requires five years as a Journeyman Electrician, ability to read drawings, and strong safety discipline including NFPA 70E and OSHA guidelines; offers hourly wages and comprehensive benefits. This is an essential position supporting both maintenance and emergency operations.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of continuous work as a Journeyman Electrician.
• Professional appearance and ability to conduct work independently.
• Ability to read drawings and electrical schematics.
• Ability to work from heights using ladders, scaffolding, JLG, etc.
• PPE; lifting and carrying 50 lbs.
• Off shift coverage.
• Excellent communication and familiarity with Maintenance Management programs (CMMS).

Responsibilities

• Operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of medium and low voltage electrical systems, fire alarm, security, and HYAC control systems, and transformers.
• Cutting, bending and installing conduits and raceways, including flexible conduit.
• Installation of fusing, circuit breakers and other current-limiting devices.
• Working knowledge of digital multimeters and megger tests; compliance with safety protocols.
• Maintaining HVAC, ventilation, exhaust, and cleanroom support systems.
• Collaborating with process, waste, and water treatment and automation teams.
• Responding to facility alarms and ensuring customer satisfaction and support.
• Essential personnel for campus operations during emergencies.

NY CREATES is seeking applicants for Facility Electrical Technician. This position is responsible for the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical systems.

Responsibilities for Facility Electrical Technician

Duties to include but not be limited to the following:

• Operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of medium and low voltage electrical systems, fire alarm, security, and HYAC control systems, and transformers i.e. power, control, buck and boost
• Cutting, bending and installing of all forms of conduits and raceways, including flexible conduit;
• installation of fusing, circuit breakers and other forms of current limiting devices;
• working_ knowledge of digital multi-meters and meggars, and as well as confined space and lock-out tag-out protocol, NFPA 70E and OSHA regulations
• working knowledge of heating, ventilating, air conditioning, exhaust, and mechanical systems supporting cleanroom and office operations preventive maintenance
• an understanding of related disciplines such as process, waste and water treatment, automation; responding to facility alarms
• customer satisfaction and support
• This is an essential personnel position for the maintenance and operation of the campus during an emergency situation.

Requirements:

Minimum Requirements for Facility Electrical Technician

• Five (5) years of continuous work as a Journeyman Electrician;
• A professional appearance and attitude with the ability to conduct work in an independent manner
• The ability to work from drawings and diagram electrical circuitry, etc.
• The ability to work from heights using ladders, scaffolding, JLG, etc. and the use
• PPE; lifting and carrying 50 lbs.
• Off shift coverage
• Good communications skills and proficient use of Microsoft Office and Maintenance Management programs.
