Our Daily Bread Ministries is seeking a Facilities Custodian (Off-Shift) in Grand Rapids, MI. This part-time position handles floors, restrooms, kitchens, trash, and building security at shift end, ensuring a safe, welcoming space for ministry activities.

You will follow cleaning schedules, work from checklists, and coordinate with the manager on coverage needs. A mature faith and alignment with our mission are valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years of professional custodial experience.
• Demonstrated self-management with cleaning schedules.
• Understanding of cleaning solutions and SDS handling.
• Ability to stand for long shifts and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Familiarity with MS Word/Excel.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, vacuum, and maintain floors and entries nightly.
• Vacuum carpets and operate floor machines in the main areas.
• Clean restrooms, drinking fountains, and glass surfaces.
• Remove trash and restock cleaning supplies.
• Turn off lights and set building alarms as needed.
• Check Outlook and Excel for tasks and updates.
• Provide coverage for the second cleaner as directed.
• Follow safety and ministry policies consistently.

Help Create a Clean, Safe, and Welcoming Space for Ministry

Our Daily Bread Ministries is seeking a Facilities Custodian (Off-Shift) to maintain the cleanliness and order of our facilities. In this part‑time role, you will care for floors, restrooms, kitchens, and common areas, handle trash disposal, and help secure the building at the end of each shift, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for everyone who uses it.

Through dependable, detail‑oriented work, you will help steward the spaces where our team serves a global mission of Bible engagement and discipleship.

What You’ll Do.

• Sweep, vacuum, and maintain floors and entries, including nightly sweeping and mopping of kitchens.
• Vacuum carpets and operate the floor machine in the main hall.
• Clean and maintain restrooms, drinking fountains, and glass surfaces.
• Remove trash and restock cleaning and restroom supplies.
• Turn off lights and set the building alarm as needed.
• Check Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and The Connection regularly for assigned tasks and information.
• Perform additional cleaning duties and provide coverage for the second cleaner as directed by the manager.
• Adhere to all Our Daily Bread Ministries safety, conduct, and other policies.

What You Bring

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
• 1-3 years of experience in a professional custodial role.
• Demonstrated self‑management, including working from checklists and cleaning schedules and communicating clearly with others.
• Understanding of cleaning solutions and how to handle them safely according to SDS records.
• Ability to stand for long shifts, bend, climb, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel.
• A mature Christian faith and commitment to the ministry’s statement of faith, mission, and values.
