Grand Rapids For Christ is seeking a Part-time Custodian for Grand Rapids Christian High School. The role involves custodial duties across designated areas, maintaining a welcoming environment for students, staff, and guests, and collaborating with a team of custodians.

Shifts run 5:00–9:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m., 1:00–5:00 p.m., 5:00–9:00 p.m., and 9:00 p.m.–1:00 a.m., six days a week, with a part-time, school-year contract and hourly pay. Possibility for summer work exists.

Responsibilities

• Lay out and organize work with minimal supervision.
• Dust, mop, sweep, damp/wet mop floors, vacuum.
• Clean stairs, hallways, walls, windows, and bleachers.
• Clean blinds, radiators, vents, light fixtures and handrails.
• Clean restrooms and replenish soap/paper products.
• Collect trash/recycling and dispose properly.
• Set up/break down tables, chairs, and equipment for events.
• Work well with students and staff; be a team member.
• Lift 40–80 pounds and move equipment as needed.
• React to change productively and handle other tasks.

• Monday–Saturday, 4 hours a day, 6 days a week.
• Work shifts:
• 5:00–9:00 a.m.
• 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
• 1:00–5:00 p.m.
• 5:00–9:00 p.m.
• 9:00 p.m.–1:00 a.m.

REPORTS TO: High School Cleaning Supervisor

COORDINATES WITH: High School Facility Manager, High School Maintenance Supervisor, Facilities Administrative Assistant

Position Summary

Working in cooperation with the high school custodial staff, the custodian will complete all assigned tasks in designated portions of the building and as requested. The Custodian will interact with students and staff in a positive, servant-like manner and with members of the community/guests of the building in order to assure high-quality services are delivered with a pleasant attitude.

Responsibilities

• Ability to lay out and organize work with a minimum amount of supervision.
• Ability to dust, mop, sweep, damp and wet mop, hard and resilient floors, and vacuum.
• Clean stairs, hallways, corridors, walls, outside steps, windows, window sills, ledges, bleachers, and other designated areas.
• Clean venetian blinds, radiators, grills, intake and exhaust vents, light fixtures, and handrails.
• Clean restrooms, fixtures, mirrors, and replenish soap and paper goods.
• Collect trash/recycling and bring it out to the appropriate dumpster.
• Ability to set up and break down tables, chairs, and equipment for scheduled events and meetings.
• Able to work well with other students and adults while completing custodial tasks.
• Views him or herself as a member of a team.
• Ability to lift up to 40-80 pounds and move equipment/furnishings to perform required tasks.
• Able to react to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.

• Knowledge of general safety and security practices as related to personal, facility, and equipment protection.
• Dresses appropriately while at work and upholds GRCS appearance standards.
