Job summary

Columbia County (FL) is seeking a custodial worker to perform routine housekeeping, grounds keeping, and basic maintenance in County Buildings. Duties include cleaning, mopping, window washing, trash removal, and plant care, with supervision and adherence to established procedures.

Minimum experience includes a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year in custodial work; valid Florida driver's license is required. Some knowledge of cleaning equipment and teamwork is expected.

Qualifications

• Some knowledge of janitorial materials, methods and equipment.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to learn and abide by Maintenance SOPs, rules and procedures.
• Must be able to work as part of a team and support larger goals.
• Must be able to operate basic cleaning equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps and mops floors and entry areas; spot cleans carpets; empties waste baskets.
• Cleans bathrooms, toilets, floors and sinks; restocks supplies.
• Cleans windows and interior glass surfaces.
• Dusts interior surfaces, including furniture and baseboards.
• Vacuums floors and upholstery; clears parking lots of waste.
• Weeds flower beds; waters and cares for plants; trim shrubs.
• Pressure washes building exteriors and clears grounds of debris.
• Sets up and removes tables and chairs for meetings.
• May be required to work during a local declared state of emergency.
