Job summary

City of Big Rapids is seeking a dedicated custodial worker to maintain cleanliness of City Hall, Public Safety Building, and Library. Duties include cleaning restrooms, floors, windows, and furniture; assisting with grounds maintenance; and performing minor repairs as needed.

May require some evenings and weekends and a valid Michigan driver's license. The position is AFSCME union—salary starts at $22.50 per hour after one year, rising to $23.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Physical including Drug & Alcohol Testing prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize restrooms and fixtures; replenish supplies.
• Sweep, vacuum, mop and maintain floors.
• Dust and polish furniture, woodwork and fixtures.
• Wash windows, mirrors and walls.
• Move and arrange furniture for conferences and meetings.
• Identify and report maintenance needs to supervisor.
• Perform minor maintenance repairs as needed; unclog drains.
