Job summary

Polk County Public Schools is seeking a Custodian - Grounds Keeper for the L7 Maint Shop in Lakeland, FL. The role covers cleaning, floors, windows, and general facilities upkeep at multiple district sites.

You will also perform grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing and edging, and you may be required to complete DOT and district paperwork. Flexibility for shift needs and safety compliance is essential.

Qualifications

• Completion of eighth grade, providing proof, if attainable, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Must have a valid Florida Driver's License to work on the County wide mowing teams, and pass all required Department of Transportation requirements.
• Bilingual/biliterate preferred.
• Knowledge of grounds equipment and proper landscape processes.

Responsibilities

• Empty trash containers and other receptacles.
• Dusts ledges, furniture, lights, etc. Replaces spent light bulbs and cleans floors.
• Clean and disinfects drinking fountains; restrooms and dining areas.
• Mow grass, edge, weed and tree trim; maintain school grounds across sites.
• Assist with setups for meetings, classrooms, and events; complete DOT and District paperwork.
