Job summary

Melwood is seeking a Custodian to perform cleaning tasks in accordance with contract specifications under the supervision of the Lead Worker & Custodial Foreman. This role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance and to pass a background check and drug screening.

The incumbent will sweep, mop, dust, wash surfaces, empty trash, and maintain equipment, with physical duties including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing most of the shift.

Qualifications

• Must have three to six months training or experience.
• Must be able to pass security clearance for designated contracts.
• Must be able to provide medical proof of a disability.

Responsibilities

• Sweep and mop hallways, stairs and offices.
• Empty wastebaskets and dispose the trash in prescribed manner.
• Dust horizontal surfaces.
• Empty and wash ashtrays.
• Wax and buff floors with prescribed buffers.
• Clean glass and windows.
• Wash walls and other vertical surfaces.
• Sweep and clear snow from outside steps and sidewalks.
• Polish kick panels, doorknobs and other designated fixtures.
• Strip and wax floors.
• Vacuum rugs.
• Mix cleaning solutions.
