Job summary

University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is seeking a Building Service Worker to perform custodial tasks and upkeep across designated spaces. Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, disinfecting restrooms, and maintaining cleanliness of classrooms and offices.

The role requires following written and verbal instructions, and understanding university policies. Training will occur on the initial night shift (11:00 PM–7:00 AM) before transitioning to a 3:00 PM–11:30 PM afternoon shift.

Qualifications

• Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Thorough understanding of University and Facilities & Services policies.

Responsibilities

• Keeps floors free of dirt by sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming.
• Cleans and disinfects restrooms and replenishes supplies.
• Empties waste/recycle containers.
• Cleans boards and dusts furniture and surfaces.
• Locks/unlocks doors and maintains security of buildings.
• Removes snow and ice as required during winter.
• Reports items needing repair and monitors supplies.
• Operates cleaning equipment such as vacuums and buffers.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
