Job summary

Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center in Winona, MN is seeking a General Maintenance Worker to keep our facilities clean and safe. You will perform daily custodial tasks across buildings and grounds, aligned with our core values and mission.

The role requires self-motivation, reliability, basic communication, and the ability to work independently. A CPR/First Aid certificate is preferred, and a valid driver license is beneficial for traveling between locations.

Qualifications

• 2 years custodial experience in commercial/residential setting preferred.
• Ability to work responsibly and independently.
• Must be a self-starter and manage time effectively.
• Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality per HIPAA.
• Must hold a current CPR/AED/First Aid certificate or be willing to obtain.
• Must have a valid driver license and reliable transportation to travel between locations daily.

Responsibilities

• Clean the interior of buildings including floors, carpet, rugs, appliances, windows and walls.
• Disinfect desks, door handles, kitchen and bath fixtures.
• Dust furnishings, fixtures, and flat surfaces.
• Empty trash and recycling into bins/dumpsters.
• Vacuum, sweep and mop floors.
• Shampoo and spot clean carpets as needed.
• Clean and maintain restrooms/lavatories.
• Wash and clean windows, mirrors and glass surfaces.
• Operate floor vacuums, carpet cleaners and other equipment as assigned.
• Maintain cleaning inventory and supplies.
• Notify Facilities Manager of unsafe conditions.
• Perform groundskeeping duties including exterior cleaning and snow/ice removal.
• Aid in upkeep and repair by reporting damages.
