Job summary

St. Louis JCC in St. Louis, MO is seeking a full-time Custodian to maintain clean, safe, and welcoming spaces across our facilities and events. The role includes room setup, laundry duties, and grounds upkeep to support a vibrant community center.

The position offers stable, full-time hours and requires flexibility for weekend/evening work. You will collaborate with staff, vendors, and rental clients while upholding J policies and delivering dependable service.

Qualifications

• Grade School graduation.
• High School Diploma/GED preferred.
• Must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment with multiple interruptions.
• Prior related experience preferred.
• Must possess basic computational ability.
• General knowledge of basic cleaning chemicals and their safety is a plus.
• Must be attentive to details with outstanding internal and external customer service skills.
• Flexible schedule to allow for weekend and evening work is required.
• Able to volunteer to work set up and tear down for events.
• Commitment to the inclusive mission of the J.

Responsibilities

• Must be able to work indendepently and well with others.
• Launder, fold and restock towels.
• Mop, sweep and scrub floors and other surfaces as needed.
• Clean and dust furniture, exihibit cases, fixtures, windows, doors, trim, and related furnishings.
• Ongoing cleaning and servicing of restrooms and locker rooms. Frequent restocking of consumables, towels, and toiletries.
• Collect waste paper and recyclables.
• Report items that require repair.
• Safely operate necessary equipment to perform job tasks (i.e., clothes washer, clothes dryer, elevator, etc.).
• Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout work area.
• Assist the kitchen with transport of food when needed.
• Transport items throughout the J as needed. (i.e., meals, packages, mail, etc.)
• Follow and abide by all J rules and policies.
• Attend J and departmental meetings as required.
• Report any issue that you cannot resolve but requires attention.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
