Job summary

Mount St. Mary’s University is seeking a dedicated custodian to perform routine and comprehensive custodial maintenance across assigned facilities. You will vacuum, clean, disinfect, and restock supplies, ensuring spaces are neat, safe, and welcoming.

The role requires physical stamina, adherence to safety policies, and the ability to follow written instructions. Overtime on weekends may be required; the position offers full benefits with tuition remission and retirement matching.

Qualifications

• Experience with stripping and waxing floors and shampooing carpets may be required.
• Familiarity with safety rules and regulations of the college safety policy applies to the work environment.
• Ability to read, write and follow instructions.
• Must be able to work in adverse conditions.
• Overtime on weekends may be required.
• Must be able to work on feet all day.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and comprehensive custodial maintenance of assigned facilities.
• Vacuums, shampoos and spot-cleans carpets and furniture; washes windows.
• Removes trash in accordance with established procedures.
• Cleans and disinfects restrooms, locker rooms, and other facilities; stocks supplies.
• Reports and responds to emergency calls for custodial assistance.
• Identifies stains and uses proper chemicals for removal.
• Maintains inventory and submits written requests for supplies; tests and evaluates new supplies and equipment.
