Job summary

YMCA of the Twin Tiers in Olean, NY seeks a Custodian to maintain cleanliness, safety, and a welcoming environment at the Olean Early Learning Center. You’ll perform cleaning tasks, basic repairs, and groundskeeping while upholding the YMCA's values.

The role requires 1+ year of experience, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and flexibility for weekends and on-call duties. Training includes safety courses and certifications, with on-site supervision and opportunities to grow within the nonprofit.

Qualifications

• At least one year in an equivalent position.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
• Ability to report and record maintenance requests.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and tools.
• Basic understanding of the care and safe operation of equipment.
• Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.
• Experience with repair and grounds work preferred.
• Flexibility in scheduling to allow for weekend, after hour, and on-call work.
• At least 18 years old.
• Possession of a valid driver license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Communicates and collaborates with staff and stakeholders regarding activities.
• Provide an exceptional member and non-member experience; address improvements needed, member complaints, and resolve issues.
• Attend required trainings.
• Complete duties on the daily schedule and maintain upkeep of area and equipment.
• Operate related motorized and non-motorized equipment.
• Record and report repairs; perform repairs as directed.
