Job summary

YMCA of the Twin Tiers in Olean, NY seeks a Custodian to maintain cleanliness, safety, and a welcoming environment at the Olean Early Learning Center. You’ll perform cleaning tasks, basic repairs, and groundskeeping while upholding the YMCA's values.

Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY

This position supports the mission advancement of the YMCA of the Twin Tiers, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This position cleans, sanitizes, and mitigates risk in the Olean Early Learning Center, including such duties as general-use area cleaning, restroom cleaning, trash removal, window washing, groundskeeping, basic repair, and other related responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

3. Attends all required trainings.
4. Completes all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains upkeep of assigned area and equipment. Duties include, but are not limited to, chemical application, wet and dry mopping, sweeping, dusting, scrubbing, trash removal, recycling, window washing, pressure washing, painting, vacuuming, and seasonal activities dealing with lawn care and snow removal.
5. Operates related motorized and non-motorized equipment.
6. Records and reports all needed repairs; makes repairs as directed.
7. Ensures Early Learning Center building and property is secure during shift and reports incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
8. Replaces soap, paper towels, and other supplies.
9. May be required to set up and put away furniture for meetings, parties, and events.
10. May be required to work after hours and weekends.
11. Will be required to be on-call outside of normal shift hours.
12. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

1. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
2. Ability to erect and stand on ladders and platforms at heights up to 30 feet.
3. Ability to work with paint, cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms.
4. Ability to paint, clean equipment, and operate motorized equipment as needed.
5. Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
6. Ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, but not limited to the following activities: semi-reaching to full-reach overhead; crouching; kneeling; shoveling; carrying; working in narrow and/or confining spaces: underground, overhead, and at ground level; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; lying on stomach and/or back; and standing and/or walking for the entirety of a shift outside scheduled breaks.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

1. The following training courses are required before beginning work: Child Abuse Prevention; Bloodborne Pathogens; Slips, Trips, and Falls; Harassment Safety.
2. Certifications required within 90 days of hire: New Hire Orientation and YMCA Leader Certification.
3. Other training courses may be required after hiring.
