Job summary

Crate & Barrel is seeking a Facilities Custodian to maintain a distribution center at the highest cleanliness standards. You will perform daily cleaning, operate walk-behind scrubbers and power tools, and ensure safe, organized work zones for smooth operations.

This role requires attention to detail, the ability to multitask, and basic English. Prior janitorial experience is preferred, and you will rotate across departments as needed.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of housekeeping/janitorial experience preferred.
• Comfort with operating cleaning equipment and chemicals.
• Ability to follow safety and hygiene standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain distribution/ crossdock areas to cleanliness standards with minimal supervision.
• Use power equipment including scrubbers and vacuums to clean floors and surfaces.
• Replenish supplies and store equipment after use.
• Notify leadership about major repairs to buildings or equipment.
• Support ongoing training and adhere to safety guidelines.

The Facilities Custodian is a vital member of our team who ensures that our facility is maintained to the highest cleanliness standards. You will be facilitating the day-to-day upkeep of our distribution center to ensure a safe and clean environment for all associates so that our operations run smoothly. A day in the life as a Facilities Custodian...

• Ensures the Distribution/Crossdock operations areas are maintained to company cleanliness standards with minimal supervision
• Uses Power equipment which consists of walk-behind scrubbers, power scrubber/polisher, Wet/Dry vacuum cleaners, portable as well as stationary power pressure washer
• Performs outside maintenance, including grounds work, as needed
• Ensures equipment is cleaned and stored properly following use
• Notifies appropriate personnel concerning the need for major repairs to building operating systems or equipment
• Requisitions supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties
• Empties wastebaskets and trash/recycling bins in the kitchen and office areas and transports waste to the disposal area
• Replenishes bathroom supplies such as; paper towels, toilet paper, hand soap, hand sanitizer, air freshener, etc.
• Maintains the cleanliness of common areas including the kitchen and breakroom areas by cleaning, wiping, or polishing the following areas and others as needed: refrigerators, microwaves, toaster ovens, glass windows, cabinets, countertops, glass windows, doors, mirrors, displays, and hanging pictures
• Rotates through different departments, as necessary, to meet the demands of the business
• Participates in ongoing training regarding technology upgrades and new systems applicable to the position
• Performs all job tasks assigned by the leadership staff to achieve and maintain daily productivity and quality goals

What you'll bring to the table...

• Ability to use Power equipment such as walk-behind scrubbers, power scrubber/polisher, Wet/Dry vacuum cleaners, portable as well as stationary power pressure washer
• Work is physically demanding requiring concentration, visual and auditory acuity, muscle coordination, attention to detail, and constant awareness of work surrounding, walking, standing, climbing stairs
• Ability to perform multiple tasks that require repetitive motion
• Remains knowledgeable of janitorial supplies and chemicals, including hazardous materials
• Possess a complete understanding of training and communication resources relevant to the position
• Maintains an awareness of loss prevention, security and safety following the guidelines as outlined in the Company Code of Conduct and Associate Policy manuals
• Basic English Language proficiency preferred
