Job summary

The Building People, LLC is seeking a full-time Facilities Cost Estimator to perform professional cost estimating and cost engineering for facility maintenance, repair, renovation, and construction projects for federal and commercial clients. The role emphasizes independent estimates, scopes of work, and collaboration with project teams.

You will develop IGEs, review proposals, conduct site assessments, and support budgeting and capital decisions while ensuring accuracy across mechanical,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CM, Engineering, Architecture, or related field, or equivalent.
• Minimum of three years of experience in construction estimating or cost engineering.
• Experience preparing cost estimates for repair, renovation, and construction projects.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specs, and scopes of work.
• Knowledge of building systems and industry standards.
• Proficiency with Excel and estimating databases.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed scopes of work and technical requirements for projects.
• Prepare independent cost estimates and IGEs.
• Evaluate contractor proposals and provide cost analysis.
• Review existing conditions and translate findings into project scopes.
• Collaborate with managers, engineers, and clients to define requirements.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and capital investment decisions.
• Analyze costs for labor, materials, equipment, and overhead.
• Prepare cost narratives and project documentation.
