The Building People, LLC, has a position open for a full-time Facilities Cost Estimator. The successful candidate will develop independent cost estimates, prepare scopes of work, evaluate contractor pricing, and provide expertise on building systems and construction methods for federal and commercial projects.

Collaboration with facility managers, engineers, project managers, contractors, and client stakeholders will drive planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cost validation through project

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in construction estimating, cost engineering, facilities management, or related field.
• Experience preparing cost estimates for building repair, renovation, maintenance, and construction projects.
• Experience developing scopes of work, technical specifications, or project requirements for facility repair, renovation, and construction projects.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
• Knowledge of building systems and construction methods.

• Develop detailed scopes of work (SOWs) and technical requirements for facility projects.
• Develop independent cost estimates for facility projects.
• Perform site investigations and facility assessments to identify project requirements.
• Define project objectives, deliverables, material requirements, and performance standards.
• Review project scopes, drawings, specs, and documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates.
• Prepare quantity take-offs and pricing analyses using industry tools and databases.
• Develop Independent Government Estimates based on scopes and requirements.
• Evaluate contractor proposals and provide cost analysis and recommendations.
• Translate facility conditions into actionable project scopes.
• Collaborate with facilities managers, engineers, project managers, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Support planning, budgeting, forecasting, and investment decisions.
• Analyze labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs.
• Research market conditions and best practices.
• Prepare written reports, cost narratives, and project documentation.
• Assist with contract modifications and change orders.
