Job summary

Winchester Thurston School in Winchester, VA is seeking a Facilities Coordinator to support the Directors of Buildings & Grounds and Campus Security. This hands-on, full-time role oversees maintenance, security, grounds, and equipment across the City Campus.

Qualifications

• Two years of facilities and/or security experience preferred in a school environment.
• Proficiency with basic technology (email, web searching, helpdesk ticketing systems) is necessary.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills required.
• Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities

• Support the Facilities Team to ensure safe, proper, and best practices of facilities maintenance.
• Complete light maintenance and special projects.
• Assist in event setup, cleanup and provide maintenance support throughout events.
• Provide administrative support and serve as a resource for facilities hardware, software, and services.
• Provide campus access control, monitoring cameras and access systems, signing in visitors and issuing security badges.
• Oversee access for students and employees, ensuring ID cards are used and minors accompanied by staff.
• Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors as requested by the Director of Buildings & Grounds.
• Perform grounds keeping tasks (mowing, trimming, landscaping, snow removal, salting).
• Document maintenance issues to the Director of Buildings & Grounds; report escape issues.
• Serve as backup for daily mail delivery.
