Job summary

ATG Entertainment is seeking a detail-oriented Facilities Technician to maintain the Hudson Theatre in New York City and provide show-time coverage at the Lyric Theatre. The role requires proactive multitasking and strong communication with front-of-house and management teams.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in facilities, basic electrical/plumbing knowledge, and the ability to work varied shifts including evenings and weekends during performances.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, plus relevant trade training or certification.
• Experience with hardware tools and electrical equipment.
• Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing or HVAC systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily maintenance tasks (HVAC checks, fire panel checks, plumbing & mechanical).
• Carry out minor repairs to maintain facilities’ function and appearance.
• Respond to maintenance requests from front/back of house staff during performances.
• Conduct pre-show inspections to identify hazards or needs.
• Oversee housekeeping during pre-show, show, and post-show.
• Communicate with Facilities Department and venue management teams.
• Prepare nightly reports for Facilities Manager.
• Assist with preventive maintenance and capital projects as directed.

Job description

HOURS: FT, some evenings, weekends and holidays

Salary Range: $25 - $30 per hour

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• S12 & S13 (Sprinkler & Standpipe) and S95 (Supervisory of Fire Alarm Systems) Certificates of Fitness. If not a certificate holder, must obtain upon hiring. Experience with Landmarked Buildings.

ABOUT THE POSITION

ATG Entertainment is looking for a detail orientated team player with strong Handyman and communication skills to join the expanding Facilities department. This role will not only support the on-going maintenance for Broadway’s historic Hudson Theatre in New York City but also provide vital coverage during show times at the Lyric Theatre.

This is an exciting opportunity that requires a proactive multitasker who has the ability to anticipate building needs in both these dynamic venues. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated to work independently and able to work well under pressure. Due to the unique nature of this position the regular working hours will consist of a variation of mornings, weekends and evenings.

Maintenance and Administrative Responsibilities

• Conducting daily maintenance tasks such as HVAC system checks, Fire Panel checks, plumbing and mechanical trouble shooting to ensure building systems are functioning optimally.
• Performing minor repairs as needed to maintain the appearance and functionality of the building.
• Responding promptly to maintenance request from front of house and back of house staff, addressing any issues that may arise during performances.
• conducting pre-show inspections of the buildings facilities to identify potential hazards or maintenance needs.
• Oversee housekeeping* department during pre-show, show time, and post-show
• Collaborate and effectively communicate with Facilities Department and individual venue management teams
• Conduct nightly reports and submit to Facilities Manager
• Additional short- and long-term preventative maintenance, repairs and capital projects as directed by Facilities Manager in conjunction with venue management team

(LYRIC) Show coverage responsibilities

• Ensure elevator, fire panel, pit pumps, sinks, toilets, etc. are in working order before show time
• Perform emergency repairs and/or expedite/oversee external technician calls, specifically during performances
• Monitor the BMS/HVAC systems to ensure desired temperature throughout the venue and handle immediate issues
• Administrative tasks, including facilities performance reports, and maintenance logs
• Oversee housekeeping* department during pre-show, show time, and post-show

PEOPLE, PLACES, and THINGS

• You will be working at The Hudson Theatre & The Lyric Theatre
• You will need to collaborate and effectively communicate with building departments, including but not limited to management and front of house staff.

EXPERIENCE and SKILLS

• High School Diploma or equivalent, with additional certifications or training 3+ Years in facilities, trade, or similar positions.
• Experience with hardware tools and electrical equipment
• Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing or HVAC systems
• Good communication ability and apt in problem solving.
