The Facilities Coordinator position is located at Minnowbrook Conference Center, set at Blue Mountain Lake in the picturesque Adirondack woodland. For more than 50 years, Syracuse University’s Minnowbrook Conference Center has offered a rich array of educational programs in a beautiful, natural setting. The property stands on 28 acres and includes three buildings and two cabins that can accommodate up to 56 overnight guests. The Facilities Coordinator is responsible for facilitating and executing the day- to-day tasks required to manage the property grounds and equipment. In coordination with the university Facilities Department, this position oversees the routine maintenance, repair to support the buildings, parking areas, lawns, gardens, paths and roads, utility and heating, security and HVAC systems as well as university vehicles and maintenance equipment. This position also oversees contracted maintenance services for buildings, grounds and equipment.

Education and Experience

Skills and Knowledge

  • Valid NYS Driver’s License
  • The candidate should possess maintenance knowledge of grounds, buildings and equipment including HVAC, plumbing and electrical.
  • Must be team-oriented and customer service focused
  • A self-starter motivated to assure all facility maintenance needs are met.
  • Candidate must be well organized and able to fulfill maintenance requests and preventive maintenance requirements in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supervision of contract staff and maintaining day to day operations.
  • Managing and maintaining grounds, building, vehicles, safety of guests and staff. This includes plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, tree cutting, painting, plowing, shoveling and upkeep of boats/dock area, as well as some vehicle and golf cart maintenance.
  • Daily, weekly, monthly and yearly inspection, records keeping of petroleum, fire safety, septic systems.
  • On call for guest needs during overnight hours and as necessary depending on all facility needs.
  • Daily trash and recyclables removal from kitchen and all other buildings.
  • On call for guest needs during overnight hours and as necessary.
  • Overnight housing accommodations available on the property.
  • Weekend and evening work may be required on occasion for special events.
