Job summary

Oklahoma Department of Corrections seeks a Construction/Maintenance Administrator I at Chief James Smith Correctional Center (Lawton RRCC). This role plans, coordinates, and directs construction, renovation, and ongoing upkeep of state buildings and grounds, supervising technicians and licensed trades, and overseeing contracted crews as needed.

Requirements include five years in skilled building trades and two years supervising contractors; willingness to travel and comply with state regulations

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the building trades and laws governing construction and maintenance.
• Ability to analyze maintenance needs and prioritize crews.
• Effective communication skills in writing and speech.
• Experience supervising contractors or staff in construction/maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings and equipment, estimate costs, and oversee projects for code compliance.
• Manage staff and budgets; ensure policy adherence and regulatory compliance.
• Evaluate bids and prepare specs for equipment, supplies and vehicles.
• Plan and direct movement of heavy construction equipment across the state.
• Schedule crews and track time/attendance; supervise contracted work.
