Job summary

Orleans Parish School Board is seeking a Facilities Inspector to ensure OPSB facilities comply with leases and federal, state, and local guidelines. Responsibilities include inspecting leased buildings, identifying required actions, and maintaining facilities per district policy and contracts.

The role requires a background in architecture/engineering with 5+ years in construction or facility operations, plus knowledge of AHERA/ADA/OSHA regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related field, or 5+ years in relevant work.
• Experience overseeing K-12 facilities and maintenance is preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access (or similar databases).
• Advanced understanding of local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and guidelines related to public educational facilities (AHERA, ADA, OSHA).

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough facility inspections of assigned OPSB facilities.
• Monitor facility maintenance requirements as per leases.
• Communicate with charter operators on actions to stay in contract compliance.
• Provide detailed corrective action plans and timelines for non-compliant items.
• Conduct follow-up inspections to verify progress and remediation.
• Oversee small capital projects including modification, alteration, and construction for facilities.
• Develop schedules for execution and completion of construction projects.
• Coordinate with operators and contractors to avoid scheduling conflicts with school activities.
• Provide updates to the Director of Facilities on timelines and potential issues.
• Assist in preparing reports for State and Local boards of education.
• Serve on the first responder team for emergencies or disasters.
