Job summary

Occidental College seeks a Cleaning Services Specialist to maintain campus facilities, perform floor care, and serve as the after-hours incident contact for Campus Safety and Facilities Management. The role coordinates with vendors, triages emergencies, and supports students, faculty, and the public.

The position is non-exempt, full-time, 40 hours weekly, with a Teamsters representation and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Three years cleaning/maintenance experience including one year floor maintenance with hard surfaces and carpeting.
• Ability to maintain College’s authorized driver status.
• Knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry, locks and door hardware; safe use of tools.
• Proficiency in Google/Microsoft Office applications.
• Detail-oriented with strong communication and ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Strong teamwork and commitment to diversity.
• Organizational and planning skills; ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
• Ability to lead and train others across functions and teams.

Responsibilities

• Maintain floors and surfaces; operate floor care machinery following safety procedures.
• Move and arrange desks, tables and equipment; report hazards to supervisor; collaborate with students, faculty and staff.
• Service soap dispensers and fixtures; guide visitors to locations and assist users of campus facilities.
• Serve as after-hours on-site contact for emergencies; coordinate with Facilities Management and remediation vendors; document repairs.
