Job summary

St. Andrew’s School in Middletown, NY is seeking a full-time facilities care technician to help maintain the cleanliness, health, safety, and aesthetics of the campus.

The role is 40 hours a week, year-round, with some weekend and special event coverage and overtime eligibility. You will work under the Facilities Care Supervisor, performing cleaning tasks, dorm and apartment upkeep, and setup for events while collaborating with a small team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Possession of a current, valid driver’s license.
• Self-motivated, ability to follow directions and work with little to no supervision.
• Ability to work well with others as a team player; a pleasant personality is essential.
• Ability to operate cleaning machines.
• Prior housekeeping experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform institutional and residential duties that include a variety of cleaning tasks such as, cleaning/sanitizing bathrooms, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning screens and windows, gathering and removing trash, sweeping, mopping floors, and changing bed linens.
• Working independently or assist other facilities care technicians as assigned.
• Assist with setting up for special events, which includes moving tables, chairs, and furniture.
• Perform cleaning in dorms and faculty apartments and houses, including cleaning refrigerators, ovens, shampooing carpets, and scrubbing tubs and showers.

Position Summary

Physical Demands

• Work involves exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises.
• Requires physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling objects over 40 pounds.
• Ability to withstand sustained stooping, bending, and lifting and to climb and work on ladders.
