Role Description

The Facilities Associate is a full-time, on-site role based at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. This position supports daily facility operations, ensuring that galleries, public spaces, staff areas, and back-of-house spaces are clean, safe, and well-maintained. Responsibilities include routine maintenance and minor repairs, monitoring building systems, setting up and breaking down spaces for programs and special events, and assisting with vendor and contractor access as needed. The Facilities Associate helps maintain a welcoming environment for visitors and staff by responding to facility-related requests, reporting issues promptly, and following established safety and security procedures. This role works closely with colleagues across departments to support seamless museum operations and an excellent visitor experience.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated skills in Facility Management (FM) and Facilities Operations, including coordinating day-to-day building activities and supporting efficient use of museum spaces.
• Strong Communication and Customer Service skills to interact effectively with visitors, colleagues, and external vendors, and to respond professionally to facility requests.
• Hands-on experience with Maintenance & Repair tasks, such as basic carpentry, painting, minor plumbing or electrical work, and general upkeep of equipment and fixtures.
• Ability to follow safety protocols, adhere to security and emergency procedures, and support a safe environment for visitors and staff.
• Basic proficiency with email and work order systems; ability to document tasks and communicate status updates clearly.
• Capacity to perform physical tasks, including standing for extended periods, lifting and moving materials or equipment, and working in various indoor and outdoor conditions.
• Prior experience in facilities, museum, cultural institution, or hospitality settings is preferred but not required.
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or vocational training in facilities or building maintenance is a plus.
