Pay : $24 Hr Full time
Primary Objective: The Facilities Assistant is responsible for supporting the maintenance, safety, and operational readiness of buildings, grounds, and associated equipment. This role plays a key part in ensuring the organization’s physical infrastructure remains in excellent condition, contributing to a clean, safe, and functional environment for staff, visitors, and stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES
1. General Maintenance & Repairs
• Perform routine repairs and maintenance tasks including painting, repairing or replacing windows, doors, locks, and hardware.
• Install or replace window blinds, fixtures, appliances, and other facility components as needed.
• Clear clogged drainpipes and address minor plumbing issues to maintain proper function.
• Monitor and respond promptly to maintenance service requests, escalating urgent issues to the Facilities Manager.
2. Waste Management & Cleanliness
• Collect, transport, and properly dispose of trash and debris from the facility to approved waste sites.
• Ensure all disposal practices comply with environmental and safety regulations.
3. Preventive Maintenance & Inspections
• Conduct scheduled inspections of facilities and equipment to identify maintenance needs or safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance tasks completed through weekly and monthly checklists.
• Collaborate with the Facilities Manager to ensure proactive maintenance is prioritized and documented.
4. Emergency Response & Support
• Respond quickly and effectively to emergency repair situations during business hours or on-call, as directed.
• Support facility safety measures in urgent situations, including power outages, leaks, or structural damage.
5. Project Support & Renovations
• Assist in renovation, remodeling, and improvement projects, including demolition, installations, and clean-up activities.
• Work collaboratively with contractors or internal teams to ensure project goals and timelines are met.
Experience:
• Prior experience with building maintenance or in the construction field.
• Basic knowledge in painting, carpentry, plumbing, and masonry preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
• Basic mathematics and attention to detail.
• Knowledge and use of power tools.
• Reliable, possess a positive attitude, and work well with co-workers.
• Ability to read, write, and understand verbal and written instructions in English.

Other Requirements:
• Eligible to work in the U.S. and pass background clearance.
• Valid California Driver’s License with clean driving record and insurable by Community Action Marin’s automobile insurance policy.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent .
