Job summary

Acelero Learning South Carolina is hiring a Facilities Assistant to help maintain safe, clean Head Start classrooms and facilities. You will perform custodial duties and minor repairs to keep spaces welcoming for children and families.

You’ll support operations across classrooms, offices, playgrounds, and outdoor spaces, ensuring compliance with licensing and Head Start standards while assisting with relocations and remodeling as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree preferred.
  • Experience in general repair, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting or facilities maintenance.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license with insurance.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 75 lbs.
  • Proficient computer skills: email, word processing, internet navigation.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Safe, Clean, High-Quality Facilities: clean, sanitize, and ready spaces daily.
  • Perform Basic Maintenance & Repairs: handle minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting tasks.
  • Support Facility Operations & Equipment: inspect spaces, maintain HVAC, relocate furniture as needed.
  • Maintain Outdoor Environments: upkeep playgrounds, lawns, parking lots, and outdoor structures.
  • Provide Program Support: transport food/materials to sites and help with compliance.

Your work ensures that our centers remain compliant, well-maintained, and aligned with federal, state, and Head Start Performance Standards—ultimately helping children thrive in beautiful, well-cared-for spaces.## **Your Role**As a Facilities Assistant, you will support the daily upkeep and safety of multiple Head Start facilities, including classrooms, offices, playgrounds, and outdoor spaces. You will perform custodial, maintenance, and repair tasks to ensure our centers operate efficiently and maintain compliance with licensing and federal Head Start requirements.
