Job summary

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection seeks an Engineering Specialist I to support facility, vehicle and vessel maintenance across the Northeast Region, including Ponte Vedra Beach. Responsibilities include coordinating with managers, drafting scopes of work, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Ideal candidates will have extensive facilities experience, ability to manage multiple tasks, and strong teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of construction and facility maintenance terminology, principles and analytical techniques.
• Knowledge of boat and vehicle maintenance; basic marine mechanical principles.
• Knowledge of groundskeeping principles and best practices.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word.
• Ability to operate a computer and hand tools safely.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Clear and effective verbal and written communication.
• Ability to develop projects and prioritize facility maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

• Write scopes of work for preventive maintenance and repairs by contractors.
• Oversee and approve work conducted by contractors.
• Coordinate with design/construction and project managers to monitor progress.
• Respond to facility-related emergencies and manage safety measures.
• Maintain facilities, grounds, vehicles, vessels, and equipment and manage procurement.
