Job description

ABOUT HEAVISIDE INDUSTRIES

Heaviside Industries builds multi-domain autonomous precision munitions for U.S. and allied special operations and conventional forces. While modern warfare has rapidly evolved with the proliferation of unmanned systems, hyper-precise munitions in contested environments are the future of the battlefield. Economical precision strike capabilities are critical to U.S. and allied war efforts, enabling successful defeat of enemy military assets and infrastructure. Heaviside builds precision munitions designed to operate in GPS-denied and spectrum-jammed battlefields—where traditional systems degrade or fail—without inflated prices or sacrifice to performance.

All engineering and manufacturing is conducted in-house in Heaviside’s Los Angeles, CA headquarters and Oslo, Norway office.

Heaviside is backed by Interlagos, Menlo Ventures, Flume Ventures, Cantos, Anorak Ventures, and Ravelin Ventures.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Facilities & Workplace Operations
  • Own day-to-day operations of the Los Angeles office, engineering, manufacturing, and related workplace facilities.

  • Ensure offices, conference rooms, kitchens, common areas, and workspaces remain organized, functional, clean, and appropriately stocked.

  • Manage office supplies, snacks, beverages, kitchen inventory, furniture, equipment, and recurring workplace needs.

  • Coordinate building maintenance, repairs, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, janitorial services, pest control, landscaping, security, and other facility services.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for landlords, property managers, contractors, vendors, and facilities service providers.

  • Review invoices and coordinate with Finance regarding vendor payments and recurring expenses.

  • Track operational spend and identify opportunities to improve service, reduce unnecessary costs, and consolidate vendors.

  • Coordinate employee moves, workspace changes, office expansions, construction projects, and facility improvements.

  • Ensure new employees have appropriate workspace, building access, equipment coordination, and office resources available on their first day.

  • Partner with HR and IT on onboarding and offboarding logistics.

Security & Defense Contractor Operations
  • Support physical security requirements applicable to a U.S. defense contractor.

  • Work with Legal, IT, Security, and Compliance teams to implement applicable facility and operational requirements related to export controls, ITAR, government contracting, cybersecurity, and controlled information.

  • Support implementation of badging, key management, access-control systems, security cameras, visitor procedures, and other physical-security measures.

  • Maintain appropriate operational records and documentation relating to facilities, vendors, safety, access, and security.

Safety & Emergency Preparedness
  • Maintain emergency response procedures, evacuation plans, emergency contacts, first-aid supplies, fire extinguishers, and other safety equipment.

  • Coordinate safety inspections and workplace safety initiatives.

  • Partner with leadership and applicable advisors to help maintain compliance with OSHA and other workplace safety requirements.

  • Coordinate incident response for facility emergencies, outages, leaks, equipment failures, security issues, or other operational disruptions.

  • Strong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and respond quickly to unexpected issues.

  • Strong judgment and discretion with confidential or sensitive information.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable working directly with executives, engineers, contractors, landlords, vendors, and employees at all levels.

  • A hands-on, on-site owner with high attention to detail who anticipates problems before they happen and drives every issue to completion.

  • [BONUS] Experience in aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, robotics, hardware, or another regulated industry.

  • [BONUS] Familiarity with government-contractor security practices, ITAR/export-control environments, CMMC/NIST requirements, or controlled information.

  • [BONUS] Experience leading office construction, tenant improvements, relocations, or other significant facility projects.

  • [BONUS] Experience with workplace safety, physical security, access control, and emergency planning.
