Job summary
TurnKey Property Solutions, backed by Cornerstone General Contractors, seeks a Facilities & Maintenance Technician to maintain, repair, and improve commercial facilities in Alaska. You will troubleshoot issues, perform basic plumbing/electrical work, and coordinate with vendors to ensure safety and reliability.
Ideal candidates have 3+ years in commercial maintenance, strong hands-on skills, and excellent customer service. On-call rotation and independence are expected in this on-site role.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of commercial maintenance, facilities maintenance, or construction experience.
- Experience with carpentry, drywall, painting, plumbing, and basic electrical repairs.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and determine practical solutions.
- Ability to read basic construction drawings and equipment manuals.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation when assigned.
Responsibilities
- This is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving commercial facilities while providing responsive service to the people who rely on them.
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs across commercial buildings
- Identify building deficiencies and determine the right corrective action
- Complete general repairs involving doors, hardware, drywall, flooring, ceilings, windows, finishes, and other building components
- Handle minor plumbing and electrical repairs, including fixtures, valves, drains, lighting, switches, and outlets
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and perform basic preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment, thermostats, controls, pumps, and exhaust systems
- Assist with fire and life-safety systems, emergency lighting, generators, access control, and building automation systems while coordinating specialized contractors when needed
- Complete tenant improvements and small remodeling projects
- Perform carpentry, framing, drywall, patching, painting, finish work, and other general construction tasks
- Install fixtures, cabinetry, partitions, accessories, and building components
- Support project punch lists and warranty repairs
- Bring a construction mindset to improving and extending the life of the facilities you maintain
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and changing facility needs
- Communicate directly and professionally with property owners, tenants, vendors, and subcontractors
- Keep customers informed about repair status, next steps, and anticipated completion
- Take ownership of problems from initial diagnosis through completion
- Represent TurnKey and Cornerstone with professionalism, responsiveness, and quality workmanship
- Manage assigned work orders through the company’s maintenance management or mobile work-order system
- Document inspections, labor, materials, photographs, repairs, asset history, and completed work
- Identify unresolved deficiencies and clearly communicate recommended repairs and follow-up requirements
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in clean, safe, and serviceable condition
- Coordinate vendors and subcontractors when repairs require specialized expertise
- Perform work safely and in accordance with company policies and OSHA requirements
- Maintain clean, organized, and professional work areas
- Work independently while knowing when to engage teammates, vendors, or specialized contractors
- Support other technicians and facility needs as workload requires
- Participate in an on-call rotation for urgent or emergency facility maintenance needs

We’re looking for people who combine hands-on trade experience with troubleshooting ability, independence, and strong customer service.
- 3+ years of commercial maintenance, facilities maintenance, or construction experience
- Experience with carpentry, drywall, painting, plumbing, and basic electrical repairs
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and determine practical solutions
- Ability to read basic construction drawings and equipment manuals
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation when assigned
- Journeyman-level experience or advanced skills in one or more building trades
- Experience maintaining occupied commercial buildings or multiple commercial properties
- Working knowledge of commercial HVAC equipment and controls
- Familiarity with fire and life-safety, emergency power, access-control, or building automation systems
- Experience with CMMS or mobile work-order systems
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Forklift, aerial lift, or scissor lift certification
- Alaska construction or commercial facility maintenance experience
- $31.25 to $43.27 per hour, based on experience and technical capability
- Performance-based bonus up to 5% tied to individual and company results
