Job summary

SAB BIO is seeking a Facilities and Lab Operations Sr. Associate to ensure smooth operation of laboratory, office, warehouse, and facility systems.

You will support the Facilities Manager in daily operations, maintenance, and continuous improvement, maintaining a safe, clean, and compliant workplace. The role focuses on laboratory functionality, coordinating service activities, regulatory compliance, and effective communication with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training preferred.
• 2+ years in facilities management or lab operations, ideally in biotech/pharma or FDA-regulated settings.
• Ability to stay focused in a regulated environment and multi-task safely and compliantly.
• Strong knowledge of lab safety protocols and regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, FDA).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
• Ability to document procedures, outcomes and observations; strong problem-solving and prioritization skills.
• Experience with lab equipment and instrumentation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in day-to-day operation and maintenance of laboratory, office, warehouse, and support areas.
• Perform routine facility inspections to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
• Support preventive and corrective maintenance of building systems.
• Respond to work orders and facility service requests promptly.
• Assist with troubleshooting facility-related issues and escalate when necessary.
• Maintain facility appearance and functionality through routine upkeep.
• Assist with setup and organization of laboratory workspaces and equipment.
• Manage calibration and maintenance schedules for equipment to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Monitor facility systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and back-up generators.
• Document abnormal operating conditions and report findings.
• Support SOP implementation and regulatory audits and inspections.
• Coordinate vendor and contractor activities and verify completed work.

Job description

The Facilities and Lab Operations Sr. Associate will ensure the smooth and efficient operation of SAB's facilities. The Facilities Associate is responsible for supporting the Facilities Manager in the daily operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of laboratory, office, warehouse, and facility systems. The incumbent will thrive in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate a strong commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and compliant workplace.

The Facilities Associate plays a critical role in maintaining laboratory functionality by supporting facility infrastructure, responding to maintenance needs, coordinating service activities, and ensuring compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and applicable GMP requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities (Responsibilities include but are not limited to):

1. Facilities Operation and Maintenance:
   • Assist in the day-to-day operation and maintenance of laboratory, office, warehouse, and support areas.
   • Perform routine facility inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and operational deficiencies.
   • Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities for building systems.
   • Respond to work orders and facility service requests in a timely manner.
   • Assist with troubleshooting facility-related issues and escalating concerns to the Facilities Manager when necessary.
   • Maintain facility appearance and functionality through routine inspections and upkeep activities.
2. Laboratory Operations Support:
   • Assist with the setup and organization of laboratory workspaces, including benchtops, equipment, and storage areas.
   • Assist in the management of equipment calibration and maintenance schedules to ensure optimal performance and compliance with regulatory requirements.
   • Assist in monitoring facility systems, includingHVAC, compressed air, automation systems, electrical systems and generators, plumbing, Emergency back-up systems, Monitoring systems and equipment
   • Document and report abnormal operating conditions.
   • Assist with utility monitoring and trending activities.
   • Support laboratory personnel with troubleshooting equipment and basic repairs as well as relocation, installation, and setup activities as required.
3. Documentation and Compliance:
   • Maintain accurate maintenance records and work order documentation
   • Assist with SOP implementation and compliance activities.
   • Support facility audits, inspections, and regulatory assessments.
   • Vendor and Contractor coordination during repair activities with verification of completed work and communication of findings and recording of activities.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Education/Experience/Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent and additional technical or related education/training required. Associate's degree or equivalent in a related field desirable but not required
• 2+ years of experience in facilities management, laboratory operations, or a related field; in a biotech or pharmaceutical environment a plus. Relevant experience in other FDA regulated industries may be acceptable.
• The ability to stay focused on a task in a regulated environment and to multi-task, yet in a safe and compliant manner is required.
• Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, EPA, FDA).
• Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  and Outlook).
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to write technical reports detailing procedures, outcomes, and observations
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
• Experience working with laboratory equipment and instrumentation is a plus.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, and sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25-30 pounds. May occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
