Job summary

RXinsider LTD. in Petersburg, VA is seeking a Facilities Supervisor to lead the maintenance and operation of site buildings and infrastructure, ensuring safe, compliant, and GMP-aligned operations to support reliable manufacturing.

Reporting to the Engineering Director, you will supervise CMMS work orders, coordinate repairs and upgrades, manage contractors, enforce safety programs, and drive continuous improvement across QA, Validation, and Production teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical degree with 4+ years of facilities/maintenance experience.
• Associate degree with 6+ years of facilities/maintenance experience may be considered.
• 10+ years facilities maintenance experience may substitute for a degree.

Responsibilities

• Supervise maintenance and operation of site buildings, infrastructure, and facility equipment.
• Coordinate repairs, upgrades, and infrastructure improvement projects.
• Ensure facility conditions meet GMP and product quality requirements.
• Oversee preventive maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting of non-GMP systems.
• Manage contracts for site operations including security, landscaping, pest control, and more.
• Ensure CMMS work orders are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Coordinate with QA, Validation and other departments on maintenance activities impacting qualification.
• Lead safety initiatives, lockout/tagout and permit-to-work programs.
• Support shift scheduling, overtime planning, and emergency maintenance coverage.
• Review contractor performance and documentation; ensure training and permits are in place.
• Contribute to annual operating and capital budget preparation.

Reporting to the Engineering Director, the Facilities Supervisor is responsible for the safe, reliable, and compliant operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the site's facilities and building infrastructure. In coordination with the Maintenance team and contractors, this role plans, directs, and coordinates facilities operations and maintenance-related activities to ensure that buildings, grounds, site security, and non-GMP systems and equipment are maintained in a safe, compliant, and operational manner to support reliable site operations. The Facilities Supervisor works closely with Engineering, Quality Assurance (QA), Production, Validation, EHS, and other departments to maintain a reliable manufacturing environment and minimize operational interruptions.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Supervise the maintenance and operation of site buildings, infrastructure, and facility-related equipment.
• Coordinate building repairs, facility upgrades, and infrastructure improvement projects.

• Monitor facility conditions and address issues that could affect personnel safety, manufacturing operations, or GMP compliance.
• Coordinate and support preventative maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting of non-GMP systems and support facilities.
• Negotiate, manage, and administer all contracts relating to building operations, including landscaping, janitorial, site security, pest control, fire suppression, and alarm systems.
• Ensure maintenance work orders are completed accurately and on schedule in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Ensure all facilities maintenance activities are performed in accordance with applicable GMP requirements, approved SOPs, and site procedures.
• Coordinate with QA and Validation regarding maintenance activities that may affect the qualified or validated state of the facility.
• Prioritize maintenance activities based on equipment criticality, operational requirements, safety, and GMP impact.
• Ensure maintenance contractors comply with site GMP requirements.
• Ensure spare parts, tools, and maintenance materials are available to support site operations.
• Coordinate equipment shutdowns, repairs, and planned maintenance activities with Production and other affected departments.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, continuous improvement, and a strong safety culture.
• Support shift scheduling, overtime planning, and emergency maintenance coverage.
• Enforce lockout/tagout (LOTO), hot work, confined space, electrical safety, and other applicable permit-to-work requirements.
• Ensure contractors follow site safety requirements and approved work practices.
• Report and investigate safety incidents, near misses, and hazardous conditions.
• Coordinate contractors and external service providers performing facilities maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
• Review contractor work plans and ensure required permits, training, and safety documentation are in place.
• Monitor contractor performance, work quality, schedule adherence, and compliance with site requirements.
• Support facility modifications, equipment installations, and capital improvement projects.
• Ensure maintenance and facility modifications are appropriately documented and managed through the site change-control process.
• Support investigations related to the areas of responsibility.
• Participate in internal audits, regulatory inspections, and customer audits as required.
• Assist with preparation of the annual operational and capital budget as needed.

Basic Qualifications And Capabilities

• A bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial) or similar technical degree with 4+ years of facilities/maintenance experience in a biotech, pharmaceutical, industrial, or military environment. An associate’s degree in a related discipline with 6+ years of facilities/maintenance experience in a biotech, pharmaceutical, industrial, or military environment may be considered.
• 10+ years of Facilities Maintenance experience in a biotech, pharmaceutical, industrial, or military environment may be considered in lieu of a technical degree.
• Demonstrated knowledge of GMP requirements and maintenance practices in a regulated manufacturing environment is preferred.
• 3 or more years of experience in Facilities maintenance supervision.
• Experience in the use of CMMS systems such as BMRAM, etc.
• Strong verbal, written, analytical, and communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Ability to build consensus and foster positive relationships.
• Proficiency in setting priorities and executing multiple assignments in a timely manner.
• Capacity to solve problems through creative, innovative solutions and challenge traditional methods of accomplishing tasks.
• Experience coordinating contractors, maintenance personnel, and facility improvement activities.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, equipment manuals, P&IDs, and maintenance procedures
