Job summary

Valley Youth House in York invites a part-time Facilitator to support Life Skills sessions for youth. You will assist the Life Skills Instructor, plan activities for 15-week Fall and Spring classes, and help build a positive community among program participants.

Applicants should have a high school diploma, reliable transportation, and the ability to work a hybrid schedule that includes evenings.

  • Ability to establish positive relationships while maintaining clear boundaries.
  • Capable of organizing and delivering lessons with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Assist a Life Skills Instructor in planning and facilitating 15-week sessions.
  • Develop relationships with students and foster a supportive community.
  • Lead discussions on active listening, conflict resolution, and civil discourse.
  • Arrive early to prepare class materials and coordinate activities.
  • Support youth in making meaningful connections in the community.

Position: PT -Facilitator- $19.50hr - $21.75hr

Essential Functions of the Facilitator:
  • Assist a Life Skills Instructor (LSI) in planning, organizing, developing, and facilitating group activities for the 15 week Fall and Spring class sessions.
  • Develop positive relationships with students in the program while maintaining clear boundaries.
  • Build a sense of community for program youth, and help other youth to create meaningful lives in the community.
  • Lead open discussions and workshops on various subjects related to active listening, conflict resolution, and civil discourse.
  • Arrive at school locations before class start time and prepare class materials before student arrival.
Minimum Qualifications of the Facilitator:
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Shall be a mature individual who has successfully graduated from the SBLS program or has successfully participated in other Valley Youth House programing in York County.
  • A valid driver's license, a motor vehicle report that meets agency requirements and reliable transportation that can safely transport clients if needed.
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule that includes evenings.
  • Ability to complete the pre-employment physical and drug test requirements.
Physical Requirements of the Facilitator:
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.X Occasionally
  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.X Occasionally
  • Medium to heavy work requiring walkingX Constantly
  • Light work that includes stairs and narrow access pointsX Occasionally
