Job summary

Ball State University Facilities Planning and Management seeks a Facil Landscape Worker CDL to maintain campus grounds. This full-time on-campus role runs 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Commercial Driver License and be insurable under the University’s auto fleet policy.
• Must be able to read and comprehend all specified policies and procedures for safety, hazardous materials information, and University policies, procedures, and communications.
• Must be able to perform all mental and physical requirements as outlined in each job duty.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Preferred: Experience in commercial landscaping and lawn care.

Responsibilities

• Perform lawn maintenance using various mowers and edging tools.
• Landscape installation and maintenance including planting trees, shrubs, and flowers.
• Perform lawn installation with soil prep, seeding, hydro-seeding, or sod.
• Perform leaf collection and disposal using rakes, blowers, and vacuums.
• Perform snow removal using shovels, salt spreaders, and plows.
• Perform trash/recycling collection and disposal and assist with events.
• Perform equipment maintenance and safe operation of landscaping tools.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

HOURS 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday thru Friday**What you'll do and what you'll bring:****Position Function:** Under supervision, perform duties related to the installation and maintenance of campus grounds.**Duties & Responsibilities:****1.** Perform lawn maintenance duties which include, but are not limited to, mowing with push, walk behind, standing, riding and tractor mowers; edge sidewalks with power edger, line trimmer, and / or hand spade; line trim around posts, poles, signs, ditch banks, etc. to control grass and weed growth.***Requires the physical ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds of force frequently, and 20 pounds of force constantly. Task requires the mental ability to receive, comprehend, follow, and provide oral instructions and information, and to read, comprehend, follow, and provide written instructions and information.*****2.** Perform landscape installation and maintenance duties which include, but are not limited to, planting trees, shrubs, annual and perennial flowers, ornamental grasses, ground covers, bulbs, etc.; use of tractors, skid steer loaders, mini loaders, articulated loaders, fork lifts, water trucks, and any other applicable equipment; apply mulch; create / maintain landscape beds using sod cutters, bed-edgers, hand spades; prune plant material utilizing formal and informal pruning methods with hand pruners, shears, pole pruners, power shears, or any other applicable equipment.***Requires the physical ability to reach, stand, walk, lift, finger, grasp, stoop, and exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds of force frequently, and 20 pounds of force constantly.
