PRAB, Inc. is seeking a Fabricator to ensure quality workmanship, productivity, safety, and housekeeping on the shop floor in Kalamazoo, MI.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate dedication to excellence and quality output.
• Ability to jig and check products quickly and accurately.
• Capable of high-quality welds in vertical up, down, flat and overhead positions.
• Proficient in welding stainless steel and other alloys (cast iron, nickel, manganese steels).
• Skilled in TIG, MIG and ARC welds (primary weld depends on product line).
• Ability to achieve surface finish specs up to food-grade on stainless surfaces (including welding and polishing).
• Employee must provide basic tools to perform responsibilities.

• Act as a group leader (subject to selection).
• Drive continuous improvement in machine quality, safety, weld strength and productivity.
• Design, build, and install guards and drive assemblies.
• Set up and install drive assemblies.
• Perform final quality checks and dimensional verification.
• Work in other areas as directed by supervision.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Fabricator position is responsible for the quality of work, productivity, attendance/punctuality, safety, flexibility, working without supervision, and general housekeeping.

Qualifications

• Dedication to excellence and a quality output
• Will have a skill-set that allows the quick, accurate jigging and checking of products manufactured by the company
• The ability to perform high quality welds in all positions (vertical up, down, flat and overhead) typically required in fabricating machinery
• The ability to perform high quality welds on stainless steel and other alloys such as cast iron, nickel and manganese steels is required
• Will have the skill-set to perform the following welds: TIG, MIG and ARC (primary weld is product line specific)
• Will have the skill-set to perform surface finish specifications up to food grade on stainless steel surfaces (including food grade welding and polishing)
• The employee will supply all basic tools required to perform the responsibilities listed

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
