Job summary

Team Penske is seeking a Fabricator in Mooresville, NC to build and repair components for race vehicles, including cutting, shaping, welding (MIG/TIG), and assembling metal and composite parts per engineering specs.

Role requires hands-on fabrication experience, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely in a fast-paced, high-performance environment. You will document procedures, support quality control, and travel as needed for on-site racetrack support.

Qualifications

  • Minimum High School Diploma.
  • Safe use of fabrication hand tools and equipment.
  • Basic computer skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to manage projects and meet deadlines.
  • Reading engineering drawings and documentation preferred.
  • Welding experience preferred (3 years).

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate components to meet requirements; cut, shape, weld, assemble.
  • Operate fabrication equipment; drill press, grinders, shears, brakes.
  • Prepare parts for paint or finishing; maintain PPE and safety standards.
  • Document routines and measurements for repeatability.
  • Coordinate with engineering and quality control for improvements.
  • Travel for rapid response at racetracks as needed.
  • Repair components and maintain serial numbers/identifiers.

Job Description

Team Penske is seeking a Fabricator to build and repair components for race vehicles across it's IndyCar and IMSA programs. This role involves cutting, shaping, welding, and assembling metal and composite materials, preparing parts for paint or finishing, and ensuring all work meets engineering specifications and Team Penske quality standards. The ideal candidate has hand-on fabrication experience, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.

Responsibilities
  • Fabricate any number of materials and components to meet Team Penske requirements as directed by management and engineering.
  • Work will include but not be limited to cut and shape metal, bend and prepare tubing, weld items (MIG and TIG), utilize manual machine equipment, drill press, shears, brakes, rollers, rotary punch, die work, carbon panel repair, composite adhesion, heat shield application, cleaning and deburring materials, grind and prepare edges and broader surfaces for adhesive, welding, or paint as directed by management and engineering.
  • Assist other team members as needed within Fabrication area.
  • Document preparation, work routines, and measurements in a manner such that they may be able to be repeated in a consistent fashion by others as needed.
  • Communicate with engineering, and other quality control personnel on a regular basis, working to continually improve our processes for speed and accuracy to ensure repeatable performance, matching the supplied engineering drawings, and in alignment with appropriate racing series regulations (e.g. IMSA, NASCAR, Indy Car).
  • Prepare any variety of items to be painted or wrapped. Sanding, body filling, smoothing joints and fine tuning to meet Team Penske requirements as directed by management and engineering.
  • Operate sanders, grinders and other fabrication equipment while wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure safety regulations are maintained.
  • Ensure work area and equipment is properly maintained and meets safety standards.
  • Review and quality control items to ensure they meet Team Penske standards
  • Maintain a clean work environment to the standard of Team Penske.
  • Other duties assigned by management as needed and directed.
  • Travel as needed for necessary rapid response at racetrack and for other functions supported and participated in by Team Penske
  • Perform repair work to vehicles and composite panels.
  • Prepare parts careful of maintaining serial numbers and other identifiers.
Qualifications
  • Minimum High School Diploma
  • Must be able to safely utilize Industry standard fabrication hand tools and equipment.
  • Minimum computer skills and proficiency preferred (familiar with Microsoft Office).
  • Must be able to manage projects and meet deadlines.
  • Prefer experience reading engineering drawings and documentation.
  • Prefer welding experience of 3 years.
Physical Requirements
  • May be required to lift and carry objects up to 50lbs.
  • May be required to climb inside of cars.
  • May be required to work on back under cars.
  • May be required to push cars around the facility.
  • Must be able to stand, squat, or kneel for extended periods of time.
