Job summary

Boomtown Design in Austin, TX seeks an experienced fabricator for its metal and steel division. You will perform MIG, TIG, and Stick welding on structural and architectural projects for commercial and residential clients.

Requirements include 5+ years in a metal fabrication shop, ability to read production drawings, operate grinders and drills, and work safely in a fast-paced shop and on job sites. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.

Boomtown Design is seeking an experienced fabricator for its metal and steel division. Projects will include both structural and architectural steel for commercial and residential clients.

Responsibilities

MIG, TIG and Stick welding as required.

Cut, grind, prime materials for projects.

Read and accurately interpret structural plans and production drawings.

Assist with monitoring consumable inventory.

Assist with cleaning work areas, maintaining machines and equipment, keeping a safe and orderly. environment in our shop and on job sites.

Maintain and operate support equipment (machines, hand tools, forklift, construction vehicles, etc).

Other tasks may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in a metal and steel fabrication shop.

The ideal candidate will have experience in MIG and Stick welding.

Structural welding, fabrication and erection experience is required.

Knowledge and utilization of power tools and other equipment such as grinders, drills, drill press, saws, spray painters, etc.

Working knowledge of standard welding tools and techniques.

Must be able to read and accurately interpret production drawings.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to receive orders from a supervisor and execute them proficiently and professionally.

Punctual, reliable and presentable.

Ability to do basic math and read a tape measure.

Ability to repeatedly complete tasks accurately and efficiently - production-minded.

Ability to work in a team environment.

Ability to lift items weighing 75 lbs or more.

Must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation and clean driving record.

Ability to recognize and execute safe work habits.

High school diploma or equivalent.
