Job summary

Generac in Marlborough, Massachusetts is seeking a Fabricator to provide welding and fabrication support for energy systems across sales, service, rental and construction teams. The role involves installing vent extensions and spill boxes on generators, plus DPF and load bank system installations.

You will work with project management to estimate modifications and perform preventative maintenance or repairs as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years welding or fabrication experience in field or shop.
• Valid driver's license.
• Willing to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Provide welding and fabrication support for Sales, Service, Rental and Construction Departments.

JOB SUMMARY: The Fabricator role is responsible to provide welding and fabrication support for the Energy systems sales, service, rental, and construction departments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent

Experience:

• 2 years welding or fabrication in field work or shop work

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

• Welding or Fabricator Certified

Experience:

• 5+ years’ experience in welding or fabrication in field work or shop work

Essential Duties:

• Provide welding and fabrication support for Sales, Service, Rental and Construction Department
• Install vent extensions, & spill boxes on generators
• Install DPF systems & load bank systems on generators.
• Work with project management team to spec modification estimates
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance service and/or repairs of generators.
• Detect faulty operations, defective material and report them and any other unusual situations to the service manager in a timely manner
• Create reports for all work performed in FieldServio.
• Communicate report findings through but not limited to phone calls, emails and in person communication.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Able to do heavy and light welding
• Able to do sheet metal fabrication
• Knowledge of fuel tank and enclosure modifications and part manufacturing
• Ability to do light design
• Proficient in Mig, Tig or Stick
• Must have valid driver license
• Must be able to travel occasionally

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 70 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance, waist high, up to 10 feet away. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. The employee must comply with the assigned location PPE requirements including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, appropriate gloves, clothing, and shields for required tasks and closed toed or safety shoes as required by facility safety policies.
