Job summary

Wastequip is seeking a skilled fabricator in Galt, CA to assist in the fabrication of steel parts and tools used in the waste manufacturing process. You will read blueprints, set up clamps, and operate baseline shop equipment under direct supervision.

The role requires 1+ year of production experience, ability to read a measuring tape, and basic math and problem-solving skills. Forklift experience and CNC familiarity are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate steel and other metal parts as indicated by work orders and blueprints.
• Position and clamp stops and guides to set length and angle of cut.
• May adjust rake and blade pressure using handwheels.
• Lift and move workpieces using hoist or crane to machine bed.
• Lay out cutting and bending lines on metal; inspect to verify dimensions.
• Maintain clean work area and pass all EHS tests.

Job Summary

Under direct supervision, assists in the fabrication of steel parts and tools to be used in the waste manufacturing process.

Pay Rate

$20.05

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Fabricate steel and other metal parts as indicated by the work order and blue prints Positions and clamps, stops, and side guides to set length and angle of cut
• May turn handwheels to adjust rake (angle) and pressure of blade
• Lifts workpiece manually or by hoist or crane to machine bed or roller table and positions it against side guide and end stops.
• Lays out cutting lines on metal when shearing single pieces
• Lays out bending lines on metal when bending single pieces
• Tilts bed, blade, or installs fixtures to shear, bevel, or trim fabricated items
• Inspects work to verify dimensions
• Clean area at end of shift
• Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned by the supervisor or lead.
• Successfully pass all EHS required tests and clearances

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

• 1+ years prior production experience
• Prior experience operating a Press Brake and/or Shear and set up experience a plus
• Understanding of basic CNC controls
• Ability to read blue prints and measuring tape
• Basic math and problem solving skills
• Experience in a fast paced production environment a plus
• Experience operating a forklift a plus

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

• Position will require standing at all times
• Position will require the ability to lift up to 50 lbs most of the time and over 50 lbs occasionally.
• Position will require pushing and pulling most of the time.
• Position will have exposure to noise, vibration, dust, dirt, oil, and grease at all times.
• Position will have exposure to smoke at times.
