Job summary

Stewart Iron Works in Erlanger, KY seeks an experienced Metal Fabricator to shape, weld and assemble metal parts. You will transform blueprints into high‑quality products using brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters and drill presses.

Qualified candidates have 5+ years of fabrication experience, can read engineering drawings, and are proficient with welding, cutting, bending and shaping. A valid driver's license is required where applicable.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 5+ years of metal fabrication experience.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
• Proficiency with metal fabrication tools and techniques.
• Skilled in welding, cutting, bending and shaping.
• Valid driver’s license (REAL ID where required).

Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints, sketches or specifications to plan operations.
• Set up and operate fabricating machines (brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, drill presses).
• Measure, mark, and prepare metal pieces for fabrication.
• Weld, bolt or rivet components to assemble final parts or sub-assemblies.
• Finish parts through grinding, polishing or painting.
• Follow safety protocols and wear PPE.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Interpret blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine the sequence of operations and setup requirements.
• Experience with fencing and miscellaneous metals product offering. Reads and comprehends shop drawings.
• Measure and mark dimensions and reference lines on metal sheets, plates, tubes, or structural shapes.
• Set up and operate fabricating machines such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, and drill presses.
• Design and construct templates and fixtures or modify existing templates and fixtures to achieve desired results.
• Cut, bend, roll, press, or otherwise form and assemble metal components to fabricate parts using hand tools, power tools, and heavy machinery.
• Weld, bolt, rivet, or otherwise join metal parts together to create final products or sub-assemblies.
• Perform finishing operations such as grinding, polishing, and painting to improve the appearance and protect the surface of the fabricated parts.
• Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent injuries and accidents.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• 5+ years of experience
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
• Proficient with metal fabrication tools
• Skilled in various fabrication techniques such as welding, cutting, bending, and shaping
