Job summary

Caterpillar in Decatur, IL is seeking a Fabrication Specialist to set up, operate and adjust welding machines performing GMAW/FCAW on steel parts in all positions. You will follow documented procedures and safety standards to produce defect-free welds.

This full-time role offers competitive pay up to $30.32 per hour, benefits, and multiple shifts (2nd, 3rd, or AWS). Candidates should have 3+ years welding experience, pass Caterpillar tests, and be able to work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of GMAW or FCAW welding experience.
• Must pass Caterpillar welding qualification tests during training.
• Ability to perform simple computer operations.
• Be available to work any shift.
• Ability to work overtime to support production demands.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and adjust machines to perform welding operations in all positions.
• Operate robotic welding equipment.
• Follow procedures to ensure safe, defect-free operations.
• Perform carbon arc cutting and gouging.
• Sanding to dress welds; use of jib/overhead crane to position work pieces.
